Meagan Alanotama

I was born on the west coast of the North Island, Whanganui. My family roots is in the suburb of Castlecliff. Back when I was growing up we never had a ‘h’ next to the ‘w’ as it’s known for now. But for most of my life, I was raised in good ol’ metro Auckland. Central Auckland was my playground, but things changed when I met the pain, oh I mean the love of my life and made the big move out to South Auckland. And you know what? I wouldn’t have it any other way. It has been some of the happiest days yet! I love it here.

Meeting Morgan in 2006, was life changing for me and over the years, we have grown to understand each other more, we push ourselves to be better, we challenge ourselves and see to both our personal and professional growth. We are very dynamic people, and as such, we enjoy trying new things and taking things to the next level, as this makes our lives more interesting.

I am pleasantly overwhelmed by the tremendous accomplishments we have achieved as a family. Morgan and I got married in 2013 and we are blessed with a home, family, travel and now, a family business.

I am humbled by the strong family connections we have, and I love that we are enriched with strong cultural values as well. These values are the core principles and ideas upon which an entire community exists. However, these values are what keeps me going, and encourages me to stay focused, grounded, and gives me the strength and courage to face adversity.

While in school, I discovered that I had a passion for cooking and travelling. My dream job at that time was to be a flight attendant, but it was impossible because of my height; I am a 5’’3, so, as I grew (by maturity and not by height), I found a way to incorporate my passion for cooking and travelling into my life. People that know me well, know that I often say that travelling is good for the soul. I have been fortunate to have travelled through the North and South Island of our beautiful country and also been privileged to travel overseas to Niue, Fiji, Rarotonga, Samoa, Tahiti, Hawaii, Los Angeles, Las Vagas, Thailand and Australia. Some of these places we have been to more than once because we love them! Who knows where the next adventure lies!

We aspire that as our son; Bronson grows older, he gets to understand, embrace and appreciate culture, diversity and inclusion. Travelling is very important to our family because it is enriching.

My working life started in hospitality when I was 14, working for McDonalds. I was soon promoted to a being a shift manager where my leadership traits started emerging. When I was 17, I also began working as a waitress at the beautiful Sorrento, One Tree Hill whilst studying in cookery. But fast forward some years later, I found myself working for some of New Zealand’s biggest Private Insurance companies then moving into the public sector working for ACC where I had been for 9 years.

Over this time, I grew as a person. My leadership skills and experience just amplified! I had the opportunity to teach, coach and lead people, and this gives me joy and fulfilment. I am very passionate about coaching for development and performance. It was an absolute honour to represent my community well within a big government organisation. I enjoyed leading and mentoring leaders and staff to be the best versions of themselves.

But, alas! As one door closes, another opens, and after lots of thought and discussion, both Morgan and I decided it was time to focus on us as a family and the family business. So, we present to you the best in building and construction, one with well-balanced business acumen, great communicative skills, top notch organisational and project management skills. To make everything more intriguing, I am the client’s first point of contact.
