I grew up in the South Auckland suburb of Mangere. I got to see all sorts of things in my years, but one thing that has remained consistent is the sense of community. That’s why I still call Mangere home.

At the age of 8, I started playing contact sports, namely rugby and league. I developed a deep passion for sports, and this introduced me to leadership at an early age. was the captain of the senior school league team for Southern Cross Campus, a school prefect in 2000, and the school Head Boy in 2001. After high school, I carried on playing for Otahuhu, Mangere Hawks and Papatoetoe Steelers; these experiences helped me acquire important leadership skills, which in turn helped me be a better person. Some of these skills are communication, teamwork, work ethic and discipline.

While growing up, I realised I had a zeal for putting things together, forming and combining materials together around the home. So, after college, I enrolled myself at G&H Training Ltd to understand and learn the fundamentals of carpentry. Carpentry got me intrigued, and I found myself wanting to know more about it.

Learning and understanding all facets of building within such a short period of time gave me a great interest in building and construction, and I wanted to dive deeper into the field. Fortunately, my father, who works as a Joiner, referred me to a builder who was looking for an apprentice. Yes! It was time to really put my best foot forward, make something for myself, and show myself in the most positive way possible.

Working for Lemar Construction Ltd for 10 years allowed me to build on my skill set, confidence and capability. Whilst working for Lemar I studied at Auckland Unitec, and then five years later, my apprenticeship ended. On the 17th of September 2008, I put on my black robe and my black square hat, travelled with my family to the Auckland Town Hall and graduated.

While I was working as an apprentice builder, I met Meagan (now my beautiful wife). Meagan and I share a love of travelling and exploring. Our recent travel has included some of the South Pacific (Fiji, Tahiti and Niue).

Some of our travel highlights have been paragliding and skiing in Queenstown, quad biking through the rainforest in Mo’orea, Tahiti, Universal Studios, Hollywood, trekking to Talava Arches in Niue and sailing a beautiful catamaran in Waikiki, Hawaii. Meagan and I enjoy travelling so much that it has become a norm for us, and because of our passion for travelling, we try to do something new and exciting every year!

In 2012, we bought our first home in Auckland. With one child and one dog, we were well on our way to the next chapter of our lives. Fast forward five years and we now have two dogs, two fish, the parents and a full renovation completed.

One of the reasons why I enjoy my craft is because I get to give back to the community by sharing the abilities and experience that I have gathered over the years with apprentices and people who are interested in the trade. Over the past three years, I have had apprentices who come to get acquainted with the craft, so they too can succeed and also be a channel by which others can learn and make it!

I take immense pride in my work, my craft and my relationships with my team and clients. I have worked hard to get to where I am, and I will not sacrifice what I have worked for to give you any less than quality workmanship. I do my work not only by paying attention to details, but also with the goal of mastering it, so I can be the best at the work I do.

For me, communication is major; it is the key to efficiency. Good communication is an essential tool in achieving productivity and maintaining strong working relationships at all levels in our family business. I am super proud of all the work I have been able to achieve to date.

Outside of work, I am a proud family man and a diehard Warriors fan. I enjoy travelling with my family, rock fishing, watching my son play league, helping out at league training/Saturday games and catching up with the family for a beer or two.
